I’m a musician, sound designer, educator and entrepreneur whose work
includes jazz performance, composition, electronic instrument building,
entrepreneurship, and education at Berklee College of Music.
My early career was as a sound designer for Kurzweil Music Systems, co-designing their award-winning music synthesizers and working with such industry greats as Ray Kurzweil and Bob Moog. Later I founded and operated SONiVOX, an audio technology company producing music software products for musicians and companies. SONiVOX technology reached hundreds of millions of customers when its products were embedded in Google, Motorola, Samsung and other global branded mobile devices. In 2012 I sold SONiVOX and started another company called 2getherAudio, which I eventually sold as well.
In 2019 I was asked to teach at Berklee College of Music in their Electronic Production & Design department, teaching students about music technology and entrepreneurship. About 2 years ago I became the Assistant Chair of that department, continuing this work in an administrative
capacity.

Alongside my entrepreneurship endeavors I’ve been an active musician, sound designer, and composer. My primary instrument is piano and synthesizers. In the 1990’s I was a performing member of D’Cuckoo, an electro-acoustic performance group known for early “cyber arts” performances with live graphics and hand-made electronic instruments. Later, I composed, produced and self-released “The Underground Forest” (Spotify, Apple Tunes, SoundCloud), a CD inspired by Clarissa Estes’ best-selling book “Women Who Run with the Wolves”. After this I attended Boston Conservatory and earned a Master’s degree in Composition where I composed a body of contemporary classical work (SoundCloud).

Today, I lead a popular jazz quintet named District 5 Jazz Band. We’re a band that focuses on playing live in front of audiences in the greater Boston
area. We have a standing gig at the POSTUnderground in Brookline Village
on the 2nd Friday of the month. Come hear us!
Two very big changes are forthcoming for me. The first is that I plan to leave my post at Berklee College of Music at the end of this year. I am so grateful for my time there. This change will allow me to focus 100% on my music and to let others take on new leadership roles at Berklee.
Also, I have a very exciting new musical project forthcoming. Operating under my new artist name, Delian Rose, is a new music CD and live show, which will debut live in March, 2027 in Boston, MA. The project is a dual homage: to nature’s cycles of growth (‘Rose’) and the legacy of electronic
music pioneer Delia Derbyshire (‘Delian’).
The Delian Rose sound is defined by a delicate balancing of textures. My new compositions are grounded in the tactile feel and warmth of the Fender Rhodes—offering jazz-leaning harmonies and a human touch—while building intricate, shifting layers of modular synthesis and sampled textures
above it. This isn’t just about technology; it is about mirroring the complexity of our human experience. It’s the sound of a steady, organic groove -time- and navigating a complex, modern architecture – our lives.
