“I’m excited by brush strokes, color, interesting mark making, light and shadow – sometimes even more than by the subject itself!”
I have been drawing, painting and creating since childhood. I took a few studio courses in college, and then continued to take classes here and there as I raised my family and worked teaching English at a private high school in Boston. I continue to learn and push myself as an artist through online courses and playing around in my studio. I have taken many life drawing classes through the Arlington Center for the Arts which have helped me stretch my observational and drawing skills.
Retirement has afforded me the time to paint full-time. I am currently working primarily with acrylics and/or soft pastels. My work is mostly figurative – still life, landscapes, and florals. I’m excited by brush strokes, color, interesting mark making, light and shadow – sometimes even more than by the subject itself!
I have been participating in open studio events for the past 6 years – Brickbottom Open Studios in Somerville, Arlington Open Studios, West Medford Open Studios, ARSTI Open Studios on Shelter Island in New York. I have many of my pieces at C’Mere Gallery in New Orleans and in the Roasted Granola Café here in Arlington. On my Instagram account you can see where I share my work with artists from around the world. I am inspired by their work. It’s like having a little gallery in your pocket!
