On March 21 at the Fox Branch Library, Global Voices in Verse brought together poetry, music, and storytelling from across cultures in a vibrant celebration of Holi, Women’s Day, and Bihar Diwas. Led by Arlington-based poet Dr. Parmit Kumar Singh, the evening highlighted the rich tradition of Fagua—Holi folk songs from Bihar and eastern Uttar Pradesh—alongside original poetry, multilingual readings, and performances by community members of all ages. The program also featured English, Bangla, Spanish, and Sanskrit works, as well as contributions from Arlington Public Schools students and educators, reflecting the event’s spirit of cross-cultural connection and shared creative expression.
Blending rural Indian traditions with global literary voices, the gathering embodied the mission of Global Voices in Verse: building understanding across cultures through poetry and community.
