Arlington Tiny Shed Arts & Discovery Series Launches

Discover Arlington’s Cultural District from the Visitor Center on the Minuteman Bikeway, site of the birthplace of the real “Uncle Sam,” with pop-up music, exhibits, workshops and self-guided audio tours.

In a collaboration of ArtsArlington and Arlington Tourism and Economic Development Committee, the Visitor Center – affectionately dubbed the “Tiny Shed” by series organizers – will be open and staffed by volunteers every weekend from May to October.

On Saturdays from 11 am to 3 pm, the Visitor Center will be open for visitors to stop in, talk to local volunteers, find materials about attractions in town, and embark on a self-guided audio tour of the Arlington Cultural District extending along Mass Avenue and the Minuteman Bikeway between East Arlington and Arlington High School.

On Sundays from 12:30 to 2 pm, the space will be animated by a series of pop-up performances, displays, and creative activities. Hear live jazz or a poetry reading, do a hands-on crafts activity, or view a pop-up display about local history such as “midnight rider” William Dawes or the Black Patriots of revolutionary Menotomy. Each weekend will bring a new activity and opportunity to discover a new facet of our welcoming town of Arlington!

This event is part of the Hidden Treasures Festival of Nature, Culture & History, sponsored by Freedom’s Way National Heritage Area. Additional support for the series comes from Arlington Tourism and Economic Development Committee, Arlington Commission for Arts & Culture (ArtsArlington), Mirak Properties, and the Mass Cultural Council.
