WINDOW ART

WINDOW ART: FOX AND OWL SAY HELLO!

Make art to put in your window or hang on your front door! Put Fox and Owl in a painting, drawing or collage that you put up in your window. Add a message from Fox and Owl for your neighbors to see. This is a great project you can make by hand.  You can even do more – decorate your porch or front fence!
  • Download, print, and cut out Fox and Owl and decorate or color them in. Or draw your own versions.
  • Then take a big piece of paper and make a drawing, collage, or painting for them – a forest, a sailboat, a rocket ship – and tape or glue Fox and Owl into your invented world. Then put your artwork into your window for all to see!
  • If you like, add a message from Fox and Owl to your neighbors.

OR HERE’S A CRAZY IDEA…DECORATE YOUR WHOLE PORCH!

Here’s an example of a porch that a family in Somerville turned into an ocean.  What would it look like if Fox and Owl were here in a boat?  Or if, instead of an ocean, you made a forest?  You may want to draw your own Fox and Owl for this kind of art installation…and that’s ok!

Share!

Please send us a photo(s) of your Window Art or porch installation.  We can add your photos to our FOX & OWL TINY FILM & PHOTO FESTIVAL later this summer.
As soon as it is ready, but no later than AUGUST 31, email your photo to FoxandOwlArlington@gmail.com. Landscape (horizontal) is best.  Include your name as you would like it to appear in the credits.  If you are a student, please include your school.
PLEASE NOTE: no photos of people under 18 where you can see their faces.

FIRST

The first step of this project is to ask a grown-up to help you download the art, print it on your computer, and then cut out your Fox and Owl puppets.

You can also make additional characters from your own imagination if you want, or use toys or other objects.

NEXT

• Decorate Fox and Owl with makers, colored pencils, tissue paper or collage.
• If the paper is too floppy, make your puppets stiffer by gluing them to light cardboard – like a cereal box – and cutting that out too.
• Tape your paper puppets onto a pencil or stick.
