Becky Holmes-Farley – Photography / “Artography”
Becky has been an active member of ArtLinks from the beginning. She is a former Co-Chair of the Grants Committee of the Arlington Commission for Arts and Culture (aka the Arlington Cultural Council), as well as one of the Committee members that operates the Belmont Gallery of Art. She is also the co-owner of JoyLi Gifts in Rockport, MA.
I am a nature photographer drawn to nature’s display of light, line and texture. I have an ever-growing interest and focus on birds, flora and trees, but whatever is lit well attracts me. I think it is true that everything has its moment in the sun. The side of a garage can become gorgeous if the morning light is casting the right color upon it!
For a number of years, I have been a semi-professional “Artographer”. What is an Artographer? It is a term that is gaining popularity and that aptly describes what I do: the melding together of the art of photography with digital editing. Often, I am asked what kind of paint I use. Although I sometimes use traditional watercolors, most often the answer is that I use nothing other than computer brushes and filters. The end result is that many of my pieces look as if they have been painted. The more I embrace the left side of my brain (which has taken considerable help from some dear, new friends from ArtLinks) the freer I have felt to experiment.
I have shown and sold my works in several local galleries, craft venues and outdoor events such as Porchfest. I have also sold original photographs, beach glass art, beaded jewelry and cards at my store, JoyLi Gifts, in Rockport, MA. Enjoy my current show at Greater Goods Collective in East Arlington (in the old Artbeat space) until April 30th.
