Shozawa, Katherine: Vita Project

A culturally inclusive, family-friendly event for children and adults of all ages, artists and nonartists, and the general public. The project whimsically connects the principles of physical fitness and family wellness of the Swiss “Vita Course” in Menotomy Rocks Park to cultural fitness and cultural responsiveness as an important part of community health and well-being. The temporary public art event provides a fun, engaging, site-specific experience that expands people’s understanding of visual art. Conventional circuit exercises are replaced by a sequence of participatory performances, ranging from Algonquin tribal history to the diverse backgrounds of newer Arlington residents.
