Fox, Dan: Family Jazz Program and Instrument Petting Zoo

To introduce young people to jazz music, a true American art form. Part of the Eighth Annual Arlington Jazz Festival (April 25-28). In this portion, Saturday morning 4/27/19 at Robbins Library, faculty from Morningside Music Studio will present an interactive performance that takes the audience on an educational journey through the history of jazz music, demonstrating styles including traditional jazz, swing, bebop, jazz fusion and Latin jazz. Audience members will learn about the nature of improvisation and call-and-response, and have a chance to conduct the band in a free improvisation. Following the 40-minute performance, children in attendance will be able to try out the various instruments.
