When they get word that the birth mother has gone into labor, they rush to the maternity ward but tell the rest of their family to stay away. After all, it's Christmas, and they prefer even the Jewish side of the family to wait until they bring the baby home. But of course, they don't. A sudden barrage of quirky family members descends, with in-laws, step-mothers, upstairs neighbors and bubbies, and a very pregnant birth mother who goes missing in action. Chaos ensues in this fast-paced farce about what it really means to be family.

This wonderful tribute to two legendary songwriters that emerged in the late 60’s/early1970’s consists of- OF HEART AND MIND - A Tribute to the Music of Joni Mitchell and CATMOONSHADOW - A Tribute to the Music of Cat Stevens
This show tributes the MUSIC of these legendary songwriters. The performers do not try to look or act like the artists but they play their music in a solo, acoustic format as true to the original as possible. No one can truly imitate the genius of Joni and Cat. Nicole Gauthier and John Fuzek’s voices are reminiscent of how Joni and Cat sounded in their heyday. Hits and deep cuts make up the two and half hour performance.

ABOUT THE PERFORMERS:
OF HEART AND MIND- A Tribute to the Music of Joni Mitchellperformed by NICOLE GAUTHIER
Nicole Gauthier’s voice will melt your heart. For almost a decade, her captivating performances have brought joy to audiences throughout New England and beyond. She writes and performs solo as well as with her award winning, powerhouse, female vocal group, How’s About Charlie in styles from gentle folk to haunting heavy metal. Nicole was introduced to Joni’s music in her early twenties at a time when she felt like she needed guidance and found inspiration in the works. After listening to the album, “Clouds”, she decided that she needed to learn every song on the recording. It sparked a new love for playing guitar which she had been already playing for years. The strange, dissonant chords that Mitchell uses has influenced Gauthier’s own writing style. She now accompanies herself on guitar, ukulele or dulcimer to cover these classic songs live, in a tribute that brings audiences to their feet and has them singing along. Nicole’s AWARD WINNING, unique, folk-rock quartet, How's About Charlie is based in Providence, RI.(www.howsaboutcharliemusic.com) They are known for their tight harmonies and soothing acoustic sound. Nicole is one of the main vocalists in the quartet and has a powerful voice that effortlessly and naturally is reminiscent of early Joni Mitchell.

CATMOONSHADOW- A Tribute to the Music of Cat Stevensperformed by JOHN FUZEK
Back in the mid 70’s when John was learning to play guitar, one of the first songs he was taught was Cat Steven’s version of “Morning Has Broken”. Cat Stevens was very popular in the 1970’s and was an early influence on Fuzek’s music. Now, John has been performing either solo, in a duo or band, for over 35 years. As a solo performer he has released many recordings, won awards, and shared the bill with artists such as Judy Collins, Paula Cole, Kevin Bacon, Steve Forbert and many others. His duo Fuzek-Rossoni also released recordings, won awards and shared the stage with performers such as Noel Paul Stookey, Richie Havens, Tom Rush, River Phoenix and many others. He formed the Neil Young tribute band, Forever Young in 2006 and they have been performing at prestigious venues around the northeast for the past 18 years. They have also won multiple awards and sold out many shows. Music is in Fuzek. He brings decades of experience to every show he performs. Whether it’s solo, duo, or in a band and playing his own music or covering others, Fuzek pours his heart and soul into every song. Many have compared John’s voice to Cat Steven’s which is what initially inspired him to create this project. His love of the music solidified the choice.

January 25th, 2025, with concerts at 5:30 and 7:00 PM. Open to ALL musicians—Powers students and the general community. Free – no cost to play or attend!
Since 1975, the Stein Chamber Music Festival has welcomed students, amateurs, and professionals who share a love for playing music together. The Festival honors the memory of Joseph and Lise Stein, long-time Belmont residents who opened their home for joyous music-making several nights a week. Their contagious enthusiasm for chamber music continues to inspire our community, and their love of the genre lives on in this spectacular evening.
The Steins’ living room was set up with scores, stands, and pianos – always ready for music! We’ll be transforming the concert hall into our own “living room” to inspire the comfort and encouragement of an evening of chamber music at the Steins’ house. We hope you will create wonderful memories celebrating beautiful music in this welcoming setting.
The Stein Chamber Music Festival welcomes players of all ages and abilities, performing in groups of two or more players, from beginning students to amateurs and professionals. Each year the Festival is exciting, enjoyable, and always exceptional. We have had a wonderful contingent of younger performers in the past, and we encourage more to join in this year as well.
