With something for everyone, our goal is to provide an accessible and inspiring space for performers of all kinds to make their own. Whether you wander across a performance by chance or have it written into your busy week, we look forward to seeing you there! To stay up to date on the summer’s events, subscribe to our newsletter or bookmark this page, as more Live Arts Arlington events will be announced soon.
Kickstarted in 2019, Live Arts was a pilot effort to work in partnership with local artists and encourage public performance and creation in Arlington. Although the program itself is relatively new, it honors a longer tradition of street performance- or busking- in Town. Commissioner Tom Davison envisions a self-sustaining future for Live Arts in which artists take initiative in running the program: “We hope the public will embrace this initiative and show their support by leaving something in the artists’ hats, and that artists will choose to busk both within and beyond Live Arts.”
In addition to showing up to this summer’s range of exciting outdoor performances, members of the public can also support public art and performances in Arlington by making a tax-deductible donation to the Public Art Fund on the town website – just note your contribution is for Live Arts on the form. In addition, you can contact the Community Engagement Committee for information or to join us in helping enliven our public spaces with music, art, dance, performance, etc! And the invitation for artists to participate in Live Arts is open - complete the Google form, and one of our volunteer site hosts will be in touch!
