Arlington Friends of the Drama presents “Addams Family” September 20 – October 6, with performances Friday nights and Saturday nights at 8pm, and Sundays beginning at 3pm at AFD, located at 22 Academy Street in Arlington Center. This family-friendly show features a frightfully fabulous cast and set, and an array of spookily amazing costumes. The creepy, kooky, and altogether ooky Addams Family opens a new chapter in musical comedy in this ghoulishly funny production. Based on cartoon characters created by Charles Addams, the show centers on a crisis of grave proportions—the grown-up Wednesday Addams has fallen in love with a “normal” boy! Join Gomez, Morticia, Uncle Fester, Grandma, and Pugsley as they dig into Wednesday’s dilemma. Get more show information here! Purchase tickets here.
The second production of the season for Arlington Friends of the Drama “Hand to God,” the provocatively wicked dark comedy by Robert Askins. Nominated for five Tony Awards, this wicked and wild dark comedy combines teenage angst with puppetry that knocks your socks off. Jason makes a sock puppet that unleashes chaos at his small-town Texas church. Called “flat-out hilarious” by The New York Times, this thought-provoking satire explores the nature of grief, regret, truth, and the ties that bind us. Performances are November 15 at 8 PM, November 16 at 8 PM, November 17 at 3 PM, November 22 at 8 PM, November 23 at 8 PM, and November 24 at 3 PM. Tickets available here.
