Arlington Youth Banner Project Announces Three Scholarship Winners!

A reception was held at Arlington High School’s Media Center on Thursday, March 21, to celebrate the twenty young artists whose work will be featured on vinyl banners along Mass Ave. in Arlington Center this spring. For the first time in four years, three of the artists were chosen to receive an award of $200 for special commendation. The jurors found it challenging to choose three winners out of a pool of so many excellent submissions. The criteria for the awards included originality, artistic excellence, and adherence to this year’s theme of trees.

The project is sponsored and administered by Arlington Public Art, a committee of the Arlington Commission for Arts and Culture, and funded by the Gracie James Foundation, in memory of Gracie James.

The banners will be hung sometime in early April and will be on view for approximately four months.

The winners are:

Zoe Pappas

Finneas Avery Roels

Caroline Kenneally
